22 Awesome Things to do This Mothers Day

22 Awesome Things to do This Mothers Day

With Mother’s Day just around the corner, you have to start planning now! There are so many ways to celebrate mom, and let’s face it, she deserves it. While simply spending time with her is something she’s sure to love, you can be a little bit more creative by implementing one (or more) of these ideas listed below.

Before heading on the road with your mom, make sure you have the right coverage and rates on your auto insurance. If you don’t, take time to review auto insurance quotes online so you are certain you have secured the best coverage and rates available. Mom would be proud and you both are safe and protected!

  1. Take a Class Together. Whether it’s in person or virtually, show mom you love her by learning something new together. It might be a flower arranging class or cooking class; either way, she’ll love it!

  2. Spend the Day Shopping. Even if it’s purely ‘window shopping’ take mom to her favorite antique stores, flea markets, and home décor shops. Stop for a latte and lunch.

  3. Do a Spa Day at Home. Could there be a better time to pamper mom than Mother’s Day? All you need are a couple of face masks, nail polish and creams and you’re good to go.

  4. Host Brunch. There’s an intrinsic elegance to brunch, and you won’t have to put a lot of money into it to make it fancy. Invite the females in the family and plan for Belgium waffles, eggs benedict, mimosas, and homemade muffins.

  5. Wine Tasting. Not every region is known for their wine but you’re bound to find one or two wineries nearby. Try wines you’re curious about and take a bottle or two home!

  6. Movie Marathon. There are plenty of female-oriented comedies, dramas, and musicals to choose from so get the popcorn popping and sing along with mom to your favorites.

  7. Put Together a Family Scrapbook. A day of crafting is never wasted. Find old (and recent) photos along with stickers, die cuts and markers to put together a family scrapbook that you can enjoy for years.

  8. Volunteer. Does mom have a favorite charity? Volunteering together by donating food to a local pantry or supporting a woman’s organization by fielding calls or serving food will grow your heart and your karma points.

  9. Plant Flowers. Now that it’s nice outside, decorate the yard with one of nature’s most beautiful offerings – flowers.

  10. Solve a Puzzle. Working on a puzzle may take time, but in between placing pieces together you’re bound to laugh, reminisce, and smile with mom.

  11. Host a Tea Party. Find the dainty tea cups and pull the exotic teas from the pantry. Bake a variety of scones and don fancy hats.

  12. Bed & Breakfast. Getting away from the usual surroundings is always fun and exciting. Line up a cute B&B and spend the weekend on an adventure together.

  13. Walk through a Botanical Garden. If you’re not sure, look online for local botanical gardens. In the springtime, they are sure to be a treat on the eyes, the nose, and the soul.
  14. Go on a Picnic. Picnics are all about the presentation. Where you place a picnic blanket won’t make a difference. Plan for pasta salads, sparkling water (or wine), finger sandwiches, and of course, chocolates.

  15. Go Hiking. The family that exercises together has fun together. Choose one of the trails nearby and grab water, sunglasses, and sunscreen.

  16. Breakfast in Bed. Mother’s Day doesn’t get any more traditional than serving mom breakfast in bed. Don’t forget the tray, a flower in a bud vase, and fresh squeezed OJ!

  17. Bake Spring-themed Cookies. Baking together is fun, easy, and at the end, you get to eat cookies! Scoop up spring-themed cookie cutters like butterflies, flowers, and suns then decorate.

  18. Build a Sundae Bar. You’re not likely to get any hesitation from mom when you spread different ice cream flavors, syrups, and toppings on the counter. Remember pink, yellow or heart imprinted napkins for a nice touch.

  19. Play Games. Now that spring is here, pull out the badminton, bocce ball, ladder ball and cornhole set. Spend the competitive afternoon with a little pink lemonade.

  20. Flip through Old Photo Albums. You might have to dust them off, but those old family photos are worth rediscovering. Give mom the gift of memory and nostalgia by talking about the past.

  21. Interview Mom. Respecting those that came before us is a healthy and eye opening way to learn about them and ourselves. Interview mom with questions about her childhood, wedding day, and events that stand out in her life, to include in a book that you compile.

  22. Camp in the Backyard. Or at a campground, either way, erect a tent, hunt for sticks and sit around a campfire toasting marshmallows.

Don’t let Mother’s Day go by without showing your mom just how much you love and care for her. With so many interesting, fun, and adventurous things to do, she’ll remember the day for years to come! (And you might just become her favorite).
